Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, that is designed to stop the so-called email spoofing where an email message is sent from one e-mail, but to look as being sent from a different, typically with the idea to scam the recipient in some way. When SPF protection is enabled for a domain, a special record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all of the DNS servers globally get it. The record contains all mail servers that are allowed to send legitimate messages from an email address part of the domain. When a message is sent, the first DNS server it encounters verifies the SPF record and when the sending server is permitted, the message is forwarded to the targeted receiver. If, however, the sending server doesn't exist in the SPF record for the particular domain, the email message will not be submitted and it will be removed. In case you use this solution, it'll prevent third parties from sending spam messages that look as if they have been sent by you.
SPF Protection in Website Hosting
When you host your domain names in a website hosting account with us and we handle the email addresses for them, you'll be able to enable SPF protection for any of them with a few clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. The service is available in a separate section where you are able to see which domains are already protected. For the ones that are not, you will be able to enable the SPF protection service and manage a lot of things during this process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your mailboxes, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, as well as to set a rule that messages can be sent only when your domains use our MX records. The last option is the most secure one, but you can use it when we handle the emails for your domains and you are not using a different email supplier. The newly generated records will be activated within a day and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in an email using your email addresses.
SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers
The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which is included with our Linux semi-dedicated service, provides you with an exceptionally intuitive interface to enable the SPF security service for every domain that you host in your new account. Several clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia will be enough for that and you will only have to enter the hostname and the IP address of the mail server that will be permitted to send messages from your e-mail addresses. When the email messages are taken care of on our end and not by some other provider, you will be able to raise the protection level even further and take advantage of an option for your outgoing email messages to be sent only if your domain names include our MX records. This option will give you increased control and it will eliminate any possibility of somebody counterfeiting your e-mail addresses with the intention of spamming and scamming people. It's not applicable if only your site is hosted on our outstanding cloud web hosting platform, while your e-mails are handled by some other provider. If you aren't sure what features to pick, our technical support team will assist you 24/7.
